Annual General Meeting Held at the Pacific Business Trust Centre
AGM DEFINES KEY DEVELOPEMTS & CONFIRMS PATHWAY FORWARD
On the 27th of September this year we held our Annual General Meeting at the Pacific Business Trust Centre where we elected our executives and committee members to carry us through the rest of this year and in to 2009.
Chaired by Ratu Jope Naucabalavu the meeting saw over fifty members of our community come together to review the progress and state of the Association so far. Most were glad to see that the Association had moved forward in the implementation of the strategic plan that had been presented and agreed upon in the previous AGM.
Presenting the President’s Report on behalf of the President, Penisoni Usumaki outlined the developments that had been made within the Association in the last twelve months.
The report included updates on the progress made by the Association in the 2007 Strategic Plan by giving a brief discourse explaining the outcomes of actions taken by our Association. Amongst these were developments within key projects such as the Early Childhood Centre and the Noda Koro Projects amongst many other significant developments. Also outlined in the Presidential report was the forming of major partnerships that will aid the continual move forward for our community. Included in this as well is the upcoming events to be run by our youth in an effort to not only bring them together but also to also develop a voice for them in and through our community. One of the key aspects as well will be to help our youth and children reach their highest potential in education and in society at large.
Having being re-elected by a vote well over the seventy five percent minimum required to pass the motion for his re-election, Mr Vakaruru plans to continue to see the Association develop further in the goals outlined in its strategic plan. This has been something that the executives have worked tirelessly over in the last year to establish and secure the ground work. The meeting confirmed the developments that have been made so far as positive and in the right direction for the Association.
As well as the re-appointment of the Executive Committee that were current at the meeting, the floor also elected some new faces from our community. Assisting our treasurer for the next term will be our newly elected Assistant Treasurer Levani Rabo. Also joining the group are a number of new Regional Representatives. These are Livana Hide (North), Saimoni Sovea (Waitakere City), Tomasi Buwawa (Central), Kelepi Abariga (Central), Nora Bukateci (South), Filo Smith (South) and Francis Lasike (South). These new members of the committee are the Regional Representatives for the different areas in Auckland. Throughout the meeting people were also given the opportunity to comment and ask questions where they saw fit. There was much time spent on answering questions and concerns raised by our members.
All present were given equal opportunity to speak and be heard.
Closed in prayer by Lupeti Fihaki, the meeting was followed by drinks and nibbles that all were able to enjoy.
